Buttercrunch We love the flavour and delicate texture of the leaves for lettuce wraps! Buttercrunch butterhead lettuce seeds are a Bibb type lettuce that forms a tight little rosette of soft, dark-green, upward-facing leaves surrounding a tender, pale centre. The small hearts don't become bitter in hot weather. Later plantings stand well into fall and make good growth in spring cold frames. Parris Island Flavourful pale centres are surrounded by thick green outer leaves on enormous upright plants. Drunken Woman Certified Organic The best guess is that this fabulous leaf lettuce's name refers to her frizzy headed look. The leaves are emerald green tipped in mahogany red. Drunken Woman is one of the last lettuces to bolt in summer, and she'll last in cool autumn weather, too. Gorgeous in the garden and on the plate, the leaves are crisp and flavourful. Dillon Organic lettuce seeds are CERTIFIED ORGANIC. This small, compact iceberg has tasty, crisp, refreshing dark outer leaves, and a creamy green interior. How to Grow
880 seed/gram. Lettuce is a sun-loving cool weather crop that grows best in organic, well drained soil. Sow as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring, then every two weeks thereafter to ensure a continuous supply. Sow about 3 mm (1/8″) deep in rows 45 cm (18″) apart. An even supply of moisture during the entire growth period is imperative for success. Harvest leaf lettuce by either pulling the entire plant or by cutting leaves from the main stem at least 2.5 cm (1″) above the base – this will allow the plant to sprout new leaves. Once lettuce bolts (starts to produce a rapidly growing flower stem) leaves become bitter.
