Ficus elastica, the rubber fig, rubber bush, rubber tree, rubber plant, or Indian rubber bush, Indian rubber tree, is a species of plant in the fig genus, native to eastern parts of South Asia and southeast Asia. It has become naturalized in Sri Lanka, the West Indies, and the US State of Florida.
Ficus Burgundy grows best in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate moderate light, but avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. In low light, growth may slow and foliage may lose its deep burgundy color. For optimal color and growth, place near a window with filtered light or use a grow light in dim spaces.
Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out before watering your Ficus Burgundy. These plants prefer moderate watering and are somewhat drought-tolerant. Be sure the pot has drainage holes to avoid root rot. In cooler months, reduce watering frequency to match the plant’s slower growth cycle.
