Among the easiest plants to grow, Hen-and-chicks tolerate heat, drought and neglect with style. Useful in rock gardens, container gardens of all types, rock walls and rooftop and vertical gardens. Hundreds of varieties exist. All types form a low cushion or carpet of fleshy leaves, tiny new plants appearing in a circle around the mother in the middle.

Big Blue Succulent pointy leaves are silvery blue in colour with prominent burgundy tips. The foliage turns a gorgeous deep purple in the fall. Unusual clusters of pink star-shaped flowers with dark red bracts rise above the foliage in mid summer. The brick red stems can be quite attractive.
